WATER CRISIS LOOMING FOR SOUTH AFRICA - EVERYONE NEEDS TO PITCH IN

Cape Town received international coverage for all the wrong reasons last year, Day Zero was looming, and Cape Town looked set to be the first major city in the world to run out of water.

Recently the City of Johannesburg also announced water restrictions, with no end in sight. Signifying the frightening reality that the biggest city in Africa's infrastructure, very possibly will not be able to sustain the water needs of its population in the next 10 years.

The next question, of course, is, what can be done? The simple answer is, that it is up to all corporate and private citizens alike to conserve and save water as much as possible. Our everyday actions will need to be modified, and awareness raised in order to push back D-Day for South Africa's looming water crisis.

Possible actions include:

- Restricting wasteful water practices and taking steps to conserve water through smart irrigation technology, such as drip irrigation & water timers.
- Stop all leaks in your homes and businesses.
- Conserve water wherever possible with rainwater harvesting etc.
- Actively promote products that save water
